Online Registration Ends THIS Friday

Hello everyone.  Now really starting to wipe the dust off the old keyboard since the Spring ’12 season is getting close being unwrapped.

The first step is to close online registration this Friday afternoon.  This will allow the league to prepare for the player evaluations this Friday and Saturday.  See post below for times of the Player Evaluations.  You can look to the right for a link to start the registration process…or you can click right here.

YOU CAN REGISTER in person at the Evaluations on Friday and Saturday.

If you need to bring any address or birth verification information, you can do that as well.

Any questions relating to the registration process, please contact Gail Mootz at gmootz@wbll.us.

Evaluation Information and Times

Hello everyone. The evaluations are THIS coming Saturday, January 14th. The times to be at evaluations, by divisions, is below the fine print, which starts here:

What are evaluations?
All players in all divisions (but for tee ball) are evaluated by an independent person/group in general skills such as throwing, catching, hitting and running. Each player will more than likely hit a few pitches, field a few ground balls and fly balls, run a sprint and perhaps pitch.

Why are there evaluations?
Players are evaluated to provide the mangers who will be drafting players the opportunity to view the skill of each player. Managers are encouraged to attend the evaluations as well.

What does your player need for the evaluations?
They will need their basic basic baseball equipment….just as if they were showing up for a team practice. They will need glove, baseball pants, cleats, hat, protector cups, bat and helmet. Each player will be provided a number which will be used to speed up the process of announcing each player before each skill. Thus the need for a registration time BEFORE each evaluation session begins.

What you cannot attend this week’s evaluation session?
In the past, there has been a make-up session to accommodate those who are unable to attend the main session. Each player is asked to attend the main session as a full compliment of volunteers will be on hand.

What if your player does not attend an evaluation session?
If a player is not evaluated prior to the draft, scheduled for Saturday, January 28th, that player will RANDOMLY be assigned to a team after the draft. This method helps abate the thought that not attending an evaluation session results in a player getting assigned to a certain team. Hey man, after all it’s the fairest way to do it!

Where are the evaluations?
As in years past, the evaluations will be held on fields 9 and 10 (the south side of West Boynton Park…..by the stake park).

What times are the evaluations?
- For the first time, the Juniors and Seniors will have their evaluations on Friday evening. This Friday, January 13th (yikes!) will be the evaluations for JUNIORS AND SENIORS ONLY! Check-in time is 6.30pm with the evaluations starting at 7pm.
- The Coach Pitch division check-in starts at 8.30am with the evaluations starting at 9am sharp.
- The Minors division check-in starts at 11am with the evaluations starting at 11.45am.
- The Majors division check-in starts at 1.45pm with the evaluations starting at 2.30pm.

If you have any specific questions about the evaluations or the process, please contact the WBLL Player Agent, Mike Razzo.

Championship Friday – Dance Partners Have Been Set

The final chapter of the Spring 2011 Season at WBLL is upon us.  After all the practices, regular season games and post season tournament games…it now comes down to two teams in each division vying for the Spring 2011 WBLL Post Season Tournament Championships.

Tonight at the fields all four championship games will be played.  The games are listed below:

Tee Ball Championship Game – Field 7 @ 6pm
Grandscapes vs. Power, McNalis Torres & Teebagy

Coach Pitch Championship Game – Field 4 @ 6.30pm
Ace Chem Dry vs. Mama Mia Trattoria

Minors Championship Game – Field 5 @ 7pm*
Rothman Chiropractic vs. Merrill Lynch

Majors Championship Game – Field 6 @ 7.30pm*
Senior Helpers vs. Carolina Property Management

*The Minors and Majors tournaments are double elimination tournaments…so if the home teams (listed second) lose…there will be another game on Saturday.

The games have staggered starts so the start and ending of games (hopefully) will not overlap each other.  This should allow those who choose to come out and spend the last Friday of the Spring 2011 Season at the park to see some pretty good baseball.

It should be a nice night at the park so swing by and support the players of your league.

Picture Make Up Day (night)

Hello.  In the event you did not have the opportunity to take pictures this past Saturday, April 9th…your second chance will be Friday, April 29th.

All Juniors teams will be taking their pictures on the 29th…at the West Boynton Quad.  And with the players and coaches all in one place at one time, All Star voting will also be held on the 29th.

A schedule for those known teams who need to have their pictures taken along with the Juniors teams will be released as the day approaches.

If you have any questions regarding make up pictures, please send an email to wbllbod@wbll.us.

Thanks.

2011 All Star Manager Candidates

The WBLL is looking for a few candidates for the following All Star Teams:

  • District 7 Coach Pitch
  • District 7 9 Year Olds
  • District 7 10 Year Olds
  • Little League International – 10 Year Olds
  • Little League International – 11 Year Olds
  • Little League International – 12 Year olds

All current Managers and coaches are eligible to manager one of the teams above.  If you are interested in being a manager of one of the teams above, please send an email by clicking here.  In that email, please list the team that you are interested in managing.  In the event you could be a candidate for more than one team, please list the teams in your email in the order in which team you would prefer to manage.  Unless there is a lack of manager candidates, one can only manage one All Star team.

Prospective managers, before you throw your name into the hat(s), please take into consideration that the District Tournament teams will begin practice either right before or right after Memorial Day Weekend.  You need to plan on your full participation lasting through the middle to latter half of June.

For the International Tournaments, practices will begin in the middle of June and games can last will into July…perhaps even longer.  So please plan on your full participation during those times.

Voting for All Star Managers (and Players…9 year olds and up) will be in the next few weeks.
